Hello! I’m Shelli Proffitt Howells, a creative writer, happy wife and mother of six children. I enjoy spending time in the outdoors, swimming, gardening, and curling up with a good book. I have reluctantly become an animal lover with the addition of Wesley, our darling doxie pin, to the family.
I am a member of the American Night Writer’s Association, and I have a Bachelors of Science in zoology from Brigham Young University, which has been surprisingly helpful while raising a large family.
I like to experiment with my writing, and I don’t stay with just one genre. I’ve written numerous nonfiction articles for FamilyShare.com, as well as flash fiction, short stories, and two as yet unedited full-length novels. I’m currently working on a nonfiction book that invites readers to join me on my journey to overcome resistance, and a futuristic serial about government-sanctioned slavery.
The one thing all my writing has in common is that I like to explore the human condition — sometimes dark, sometimes brilliantly hopeful, always beautiful.
I hope to eventually be so wildly successful with my writing that I am able to become a hermit in the hills of Austin, Texas.
On my blog, I share insights into my writing process, book reviews and recommendations, and samples of my personal writings. I post three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
